Star Locums is a locum tenens company owned by three emergency physicians. We place people from our own network — physicians we have worked shifts with, not names pulled from a database.
Sixty years of emergency medicine on the West Coast, and the relationships that come with it.
Anyone can send you a CV. What is hard is knowing, before the shift starts, whether the physician will fit your department — how they handle a full waiting room, how they treat your nurses, whether your staff trusts them by the end of the first day.
We know that about the people we place, because we have worked alongside them. Three decades-long careers across California and Oregon built a network of emergency physicians we can vouch for personally. When we recommend someone, we are recommending a colleague — someone we would want covering our own department.
The measure of a good locum is simple: your staff asks when they are coming back. That is the only standard we place against.

Two of us currently serve as ED medical directors and our third partner is a former ED medical director; two have served as Chief of Staff at their hospitals. Between us we have built and run emergency medicine groups up and down the West Coast — Independent Physician Management, Trinity Emergency Physicians, Mountain Medicine, Bandon Emergency Physicians, and Remote Area Medicine. That is where the network comes from.
